I'm addicted to you...
I used to hate reading (I blame it on the western educational system).
But!
Now, it's all I practically do.
I read right before bed. I read in the morning (after I meditate ofc). I read at red lights. I read at social gatherings (if I'm invited).
I read while getting head (this is difficult).
I read at work. I read at home. I read in my room. I read outside. I read on the grass.
I read everywhere.
Craziest part about it is that I feel like I'm barely getting started ya know.
I mean, just sitting here thinking about all the books I still want to read and learn about, makes me itch...
Thousands of history books, philosophy books, psychology books, biology books, religious books, spiritual books, etc.
An infinite amount.
Thus far, my favorite type of books are spiritual books.
For example, every time I read a page from James Allen's From Poverty To Power, I get this crazy dopamine rush.
I feel as if I've evolved as a human being, mentally and spiritually, every time I turn a frickin page.
I mean one of the things he teaches in this book is that true happiness, true peace, true wealth and true power is found within you.
It's accessible to you, at all times...
He also teaches us that external "solutions" and rewards only last for so long.
That they are only temporary and unfortunately, fleeting.
You might think that once you get that new car you wanted, that you'll finally be happy.
But then once you get the new car, that feeling of excitement and satisfaction wears off in a few weeks.
Then you're back to feeling unhappy again.
So, instead he teaches us to meditate or remind ourselves daily that external gratifications will not bring us happiness.
But by constantly telling yourself, day in and day out, to rid yourself of all desires, only then will you attain true happiness. True wealth, true peace and true serenity.
It's like a mental exercise that he urges us to practice daily.
Every day, slowly improving and gaining a bit more control over your mind and state of being.
To the point where you essentially become immune to all external forces, distractions, afflictions, and circumstances.
You can live life without ever having to compare yourself to somebody else, then immediately after, feel bad about yourself for not having the things that they have.
You can live life being made fun of, mocked, rejected, ridiculed or even attacked, and be completely unaffected by it.
This is a process of removing the Self or your ego, that we all have within us, which causes us to do foolish things or say foolish things that we later regret.
So basically, when I read things like that, I think to myself...
I NEED SOME MORE OF THIS!
So yes.
I'm addicted to reading.
But yeah, just wanted to ramble to ya about that.
See ya later ✌️
Don't forget to subscribe btw... :)
Good day and God bless.
